Inteplast Acquires German Company Perga

LIVINGSTON, NJ – July 22, 2025 – Inteplast Group has acquired Perga, a plastics manufacturer in Walldürn, Germany. The southwestern German manufacturer will be the sixth manufacturing facility within Inteplast Engineered Films (IEF), a U.S.-based business division of Inteplast. The seller was family-backed Serafin Group, headquartered in Munich, Germany.

Perga, which was founded in 1970, produces pergafilm®, allfolin®, and pergaloop®, all advanced films made for sheets, bags, and packaging across a variety of markets. The company employs approximately 200 staff members in the Walldürn-Altheim district.

Inteplast Group President Dr. John Young said that Perga’s outstanding reputation as a leader in technical film development made it an attractive asset to Inteplast. Through IEF, Perga’s customer base will also access a wider international network for specialty film products and resources, he shared.

“We see so many synergies with Perga on board. This being our first major investment in Europe, we could not have selected a better partner. Perga in turn could not have selected a better partner in Inteplast, and more specifically, in Inteplast Engineered Films. Culturally, Perga is so close to our manufacturing values, namely its continuous pursuit of excellence and devotion to its customers. In the weeks and months ahead, I look forward to welcoming all of our Perga colleagues in person,” said Dr. Young.

Bob Stein, IEF President, stated that Perga’s dedication to quality and innovation complements Inteplast’s approach to pairing sustainability with engineered film production. IEF’s five U.S.-based locations are in Westborough, MA; Garland, TX; Dalton, GA; Orlando, FL; and Prattville, AL. In total, including  Perga’s workforce, IEF has approximately just under 500 employees.

“Perga’s 55-year-long history making high quality films is a perfect complement to IEF’s strategy. We see a strong mutual benefit between facilitating the introduction of Perga’s exceptional products into the Americas as well as adding more solutions for our existing customers that seek ultra-thin, sustainable products,” said Stein.

Perga Managing Director Fabian Wilhelms noted that the acquisition will prove to be a tremendous opportunity for growth.

“We are very delighted and proud to become part of the Inteplast family. From day one, it was clear that there is huge strategic fit and shared values. The merger will support our strong market position. At the same time, it will accelerate the implementation of our  strategy of internationalization. I am convinced that all parties can only benefit,” said Wilhelms.
