LIVINGSTON, NJ – August 13, 2025 – Inteplast Group has purchased con-pearl from Munich-based Blue Cap AG. In 2019, Blue Cap AG acquired con-pearl when it was formerly named Friedola Tech and rebranded the company after its eponymous technology. The central German manufacturer is credited as the first producer of polypropylene twin-wall boards in Europe and has locations in Geismar, Leinefelde-Worbis, and Greenville, South Carolina in the United States. con-pearl will join Inteplast Group’s World-Pak Division within the Sustainable Packaging & Printing Solutions business unit.
Inteplast Group President Dr. John Young stated that con-pearl’s innovative reputation with reusable containers and sleeves as well protective packaging is perfectly aligned with Inteplast’s green energy initiatives. “The approach that con-pearl has taken toward sustainable packaging development in its 35-year history is an asset to our companies that integrate both post-industrial and post-consumer recycled content into our product lines. As we welcome our new con-pearl colleagues we are excited to usher in a new era for storage and logistics solutions in a marketplace that is primed for a circular economy,” he said.
Andy Chen, president of Sustainable Packaging & Printing Solutions, said that con-pearl created a legacy in development of plastic boards and boxes fashioned for long life cycles. “Recycled materials are only the tip of the iceberg in product evolution at con-pearl. We are eager to see the synergistic progress across our companies.”
Stefan Hoedt, CEO and managing director of con-pearl, agreed that the acquisition would enhance technological developments at the company. “We have an amazing workforce of roughly 275 employees who apply best practices in production, quality, and customer service. Our successful history in polypropylene board and packaging development will only be enhanced via the resources and support that Inteplast Group will afford us. When con-pearl technology was launched in 1990, we hit the ground running and have since expanded our sustainably driven offerings in packaging. We appreciate all that Blue Cap has contributed to con-pearl and moving forward with Inteplast, we will build upon this foundation.”
Dr. Henning von Kottwitz, CEO of Blue Cap, noted that the sale of con-pearl to Inteplast was a boon for all parties. “As part of our Best Owner approach, we regularly assess the individual exit readiness of our portfolio companies to realize created value potential in a targeted manner. With the sale of con-pearl, we have accomplished this. I am convinced that con-pearl will develop dynamically within Inteplast Group. We wish the entire team continued success.”
Sustainable Packaging & Printing Solutions is home to con-pearl’s sister facilities, which include Profile in Lolita, TX; Coroplast in Vanceburg, KY, and CoolSeal USA in Perrysburg, OH in the United States.
